IPL Acne Treatments
Intensed Pulsed Light Treatments for Acne
What can be an inconvience for some can have a detrimental effect on anothers self esteem. Acne is a very common, chronic skin condition caused by inflammation of oil producing subeaceous glands. Unfortunately it can be very difficult to treat and can last for several years. Some Antibiotics or other forms of treatment can take months to work if at all or can cause unwanted side effects. IPL Acne therapy is a safe, effective light-based therapy now reveloutionising the treatment of acne.
How does IPL work on Acne?:
The innovative and advanced IPL system filters light from a flash lamp in two targeted ways to ensure that only light with the appropriate wavelength is allowed to reach the skin to prevent future acne. Yellow light destroys the bacteria that causes acne and red light targets the production of sebum in the sebaceous glands, reducing inflammation and swelling. Areas of acne respond well to IPL.
How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments will vary from person to person. A course of treatments is recommended to ensure that the treatment is going to be most effective. We will be happy to discuss this with you at a consultation prior to treatment.
Is the treatment painful?
Anaesthesia is not needed as treatment is mildly uncomfortable. Many people describe the sensation as a flick of an elastic band.
Who is suitable for treatment?
Almost everyone can be treated except for dark skinned or tanned individuals. (It is crucial that sunbeds and sunbathing are avoided during treatment) If you are pregnant or taking Roccutane it is best not to go undergo Intense Pulsed Light treatment.

IPL Skin Rejuvenation Treatments
The Lynton LUMINA, supplied by the UK’s No.1 manufacturer, Lynton Lasers. Medically CE marked and favored by medical practitioners in the NHS, the LUMINA provides dramatic results for various skin concerns.
As we get older the effects of sun, smoking, diet and pollution all take their toll on our skin and less collagen is produced. The Lynton Lumina offers an excellent solution to visible signs of aging by inducing the healing process of the skin and promoting fibroblasts.
It also restructures collagen and elastin treating enlarged pores. Wrinkles and fine lines are often accompanied by dry and rough skin, mottled skin tone and areas of abnormal pigmentation, age or sun spots and freckles are common, Vascular irregularities such as broken capillaries and rosacea can also contribute to overall skin tone irregularities. The IPL skin rejuvenation treatment can be used to treat the entire face paying particular attention to areas of excess pigmentation or vascular irregularity. As well as improving overall skin tone, an improvement in skin texture and pore size is observed, The skin becomes firmer, more radiant and enlarged pores reduce. Add in a course of microdermabrasion for the ultimate age-defying skin rejuvenating program
For maximum Skin Rejuvenation results we recommend combining IPL treatment with a microdermabrasion treatment. This will dislodge the debris of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin allowing the laser/IPL light to penetrate further. Improvements can be seen 10 days following the first treatment and enhanced results can be seen with each subsequent treatment.
How many treatments are necessary?
The best results are achieved with a course of 3-4 treatments spaced at monthly intervals, followed by maintenance treatments at least twice a year to maintain results.
What does treatment feel like?
Skin rejuvenation using IPL merely creates a feeling of warmth, so no discomfort should be experienced during or after treatment.
When will I see the results?
Because we are stimulating the deeper layers of skin it will take up to four weeks for the true results of treatment to start to be seen. However Individual results can vary. Results can be quicker when used in conjunction with Microdermabrasion.

IPL Skin Pigmentation & Sun Damage
Intensed Pulsed Light Treatments for Skin Pigmentation & Sun Damage
Age spots, sun spots, liver spots, freckles and other unwanted pigmentation are often associated with skin ageing and over exposure to the sun or sunbeds. Generally these age spots pose no health risk, however they can be unsightly and create a patchy, less youthful appearance. These can be successfully lightened or removed with Intense Pulse Light.
How does IPL work for Pigmentation?
The Intense Pulse Light System releases short pulses of filtered light which is readily absorbed by the high concentration of melanin found within freckles, sun spots or liver spots. The rapid absorption of light energy heats the melanin and eradicates the melanin-rich cells.
How many treatments are necessary?
Like you, pigmentation is highly individual and response to treatment does vary from person to person. This can be discussed at a consultation prior to treatment.
What does treatment feel like?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable and a warm, tingling sensation not unlike sunburn can be experienced afterwards.
Am I suitable for treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment except for very dark skinned or tanned individuals. (Sunbeds, false tan and sunbathing should be avoided during treatment). For some pigmentation, such as melasma, we would not advise using IPL. Any medical conditions will be discussed prior to treatment.
When will I see the results?
Response to treatment varies for each individual. This can be due to the severity of your pigmentation.

IPL Rosacea Treatments
Intensed Pulsed Light Treatments for Rosacea
Rosacea is a common but often misunderstood condition which is estimated to affect 45 million people worldwide (mostly fair-skinned people). It begins as erythema with flushing and redness on the central face and across the cheeks, nose or forehead, but can also commonly affect the neck and chest. It can consist of facial thread veins called telangiectasia, in some cases pustules, papules (acne rosacea). Rosacea may be hereditary or as a result of a variety of factors including damage from sun exposure, wind and extremes of temperature. The over use of steroid creams and certain auto immune conditions may also induce rosacea. Often the exact cause is unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process.
Rosacea is effectively treated with Intense Pulse Light (IPL) with minimal downtime or risk.
How does IPL work for Rosacea?
When treating rosacea (or other vascular conditions), the light is absorbed by the oxyhaemoglobin in the blood within the vein, causing the blood to coagulate and the thread vein to break up into particles that can be filtered away naturally through the lymphatic system in your body.
How many treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments required is very individual as response to treatments varies from person to person. A course of treatments is recommended to achieve maximum results but this can be discussed at a consultation.
What does treatment feel like?
Treatment is mildly uncomfortable but the procedure is very quick. Sensations vary but most people describe it as a very quick, hot pin prick.
Who is suitable for treatment?
Almost everyone can be treated except for dark skinned or tanned individuals. (It is crucial that sunbeds and sunbathing are avoided during treatment) Any medical conditions should be discussed prior to treatment and If you are pregnant it is best not to go undergo Intense Pulsed Light treatment.
How long do the results last?
Immediately after treatment some redness/thread veins can disappear but may re-occur a few days later, but be less visible. With further treatment this will disappear and are not likely to re-occur. However, once you have a tendency to facial redness, you always will, so new veins may appear at some point in the future making further treatment necessary. Maintenance sessions may not be required for several years though, as results are long-lasting.

IPL Thread Vein Treatments
Intensed Pulsed Light Treatments for Thread Veins
Facial thread veins or broken red veins (telangiectasia) are small unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins which appear around the nose and across the cheeks and chin. These broken veins occur when the veins dilate and become larger so they are visible through the transparency of the skin. Although facial veins or spider veins are quite common they can cause some distress and embarrassment for those who have them.
Facial veins may be hereditary or as a result of a variety of factors including damage from sun exposure, wind and extremes of temperature. The exact cause is often unknown and may just be part of the natural ageing process or can due to the skin condition Rosacea.
How does IPL work for Thread Veins?
When treating thread veins, the light is absorbed by the oxyhaemoglobin in the blood within the vein, causing the blood to coagulate and the thread vein to break up into particles that can be filtered away naturally through the lymphatic system in your body.
